Born in Rabat, Morocco, Faïz Lamouri began the study of saxophone and music at a very early age. After eight years of classical studies, he took an interest in jazz through musicians like Paul Desmond, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Chris Potter, Mark Turner or Walter Smith.
In 2004, he moved to Paris where he attended the American School of Modern Music until 2008. During these four years, Faïz Lamouri has regularly performed as a leader in prestigious jazz clubs in the French capital such as the Baisé Salé or the Sunside.
In 2008, Faïz Lamouri obtained a scholarship of excellence to study at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. During his years in NYC, Faïz has given concerts in many jazz clubs such as the Tutuma Social Club, Fat Cat, Smalls or the prestigious Dizzy’s Club. In 2010, he performed at the famous Iridium Jazz club opening for Kenny Garret as part of the “New Stars Series”. He graduated with honors from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in May 2011.
Back in France in 2013, Faïz Lamouri regularly performs in jazz clubs and festivals in Europe and around the world.
In 2016, he released his first album of original compositions, Wonders, on the Soprane Records label. Critically acclaimed by the press, the album is regularly featured on international jazz radios.
Quoted as “a new star in the Jazz world” by the RTL radio in France and as a “young prodigy”(Soir Echos), Faïz Lamouri has established himself as one of the most prominent jazz saxophonists of his generation. After touring the world with his quartet, (Agadir International Jazz Festival, Montevideo Jazz Festival etc) Faïz Lamouri recorded his second album, “Inner Light”, released in May 2020 on the prestigious Fresh Sound New Talent record label.(Robert Glasper, Brad Mehldau etc)
Rooted in North Africa, New York and Paris, his music transports the listener into a unique musical universe that is both explosive and captivating.

En 2004, il s’installa à Paris où il suivit les cours de lʼAmerican school of Modern Music jusqu’en 2008. Durant ces quatre années, Faïz Lamouri s’est produit régulièrement en leader dans des clubs de jazz prestigieux de la capitale comme le Baiser Salé ou le Sunside.
En 2008, Faïz Lamouri obtint une bourse d’excellence pour étudier à la New School For Jazz and Contemporary Music à New York.
Durant ses années américaines, Faïz a donné des concerts dans de nombreux clubs de Jazz comme le le Fat Cat, le Tutuma Social Club, le Smalls ou encore le prestigieux Dizzy’s Club. Il a notamment donné un concert au célèbre Iridium Jazz club en deuxième partie de Kenny Garret dans le cadre des “New Stars Series” en 2010. C’est avec les honneurs qu’il obtint en Mai 2011 le diplôme de la New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
De retour en France en 2013, Faïz Lamouri se produit régulièrement dans les clubs et festivals de Jazz en Europe ainsi que dans le monde.
En 2016, Il sort son premier album de compositions originales, Wonders, sur le label Soprane Records. L’album est acclamé par la presse et passe régulièrement sur de nombreuses radios françaises.
Considéré comme “la nouvelle étoile du Jazz hexagonal” par RTL, Faïz Lamouri s’est imposé comme un des saxophonistes de Jazz incontournable de la nouvelle génération. Après une tournée mondiale avec son quartet, (Agadir International Jazz Festival, Montevideo Jazz Festival, Sunside Jazz Club etc) Faïz a enregistré son deuxième album, “Inner Light”, sorti en Mai 2020 sur le prestigieux label Fresh Sound New Talent.(Robert Glasper, Brad Melhdau, etc)
